Richard Alan McHose, Sr.

Richard Alan McHose, Sr., age 71, of North Platte, NE, passed away at
home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Rick was born February 27, 1945, to Robert, Sr. and Helen McHose in
West Reading, PA. He grew up in Berks County, PA until the family
relocated to Dauphin, PA when Rick was 11. He graduated in 1963 from
Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, PA.
In 1965 Rick joined the 193rd Special Operations Group of the
Pennsylvania Air National Guard and served until he retired in 1994.
Following his retirement, Rick worked for the Central Pennsylvania Blood
Bank for eight years then retired in 2003.
On June 24, 1967, Rick was united in marriage to Mary Louise Klahr at
Reading, PA and they lived in Middletown, PA for six months until
settling in Elizabethtown, PA. In 2006 Rick and Mary moved to North
Platte where they attended and supported the Berean Church.
Rick was a lifetime member of the 193rd S.O.W. as well as a member of
the National Rifle Association and P.R. Halligan Post #163 American
Legion. He was an avid gun collector and liked to hunt before he got
married. Rick always enjoyed fishing but after moving to Nebraska, he
really enjoyed fishing!
He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Mary, of North Platte; son,
Richard, Jr. ‘Rick’ (Shawnaa) McHose, of Spokane, WA; daughter, Nancy
(Ryan) Hershey, of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, Ryan McHose,
Ashlee McHose, Chase Hershey and Aidan Hershey; brothers, Robert, Jr.
(Susan) McHose, of Harrisburg, PA, and Terence McHose, of Halifax, VA;
brothers-in-law, Howard Klahr, of North Platte, Robert (Carol) Klahr, of
Elk Grove, CA, James Klahr (Anthony Tuchscher), of New Brighton, MN
and Terry (Vickie) Klahr, of Council Bluffs, IA; and several nieces,
nephews and other family.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Helen; sister,
Nancy Klahr; his brother, William; and in-law, Abraham Klahr and Esther
Klahr Shaw.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the North
Platte Berean Church with Pastor John Stone officiating. Burial with
military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Odean Colonial
Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. Condolences
may also be shared at odeanchapel.com. In lieu of flowers memorials are to
the Wounded Warrior Project or Samaritan’s Purse.

CMSgt Ralph East, retired

Ralph E. East, 87, of Wernersville, passed away January 29, 2016 in The Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Moyer) East. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Dorothy G. (Schaeffer) East.Mr. East was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He is the last remaining of the 148th fighter squadron, with the longest continuous service.

Upon retiring in 1988 from his 41-year military career with the U.S. Air Force, he earned the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.

Ralph was an avid traveler, having traveled extensively around the world.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy, is son, Mark S. East, husband of Rebecca, Shillington; three granddaughters: Stephanie B., Erin L. and Kirsten N. East. Other survivors include siblings: Gene A. East, Reading; Roy G. East, Maysville, KY; Ruth A. East, Valrico, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. East’s memory to Alsace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.

Services will be held in Alsace Lutheran Church, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Richard A. Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Brigadier General Richard B. Posey Obituary

Brigadier General Richard B. Posey, USAF (Retired), 95, of Camp Hill, PA known as the
“Father of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard” passed away on September 27, 2015. Born on
March 9, 1920 in Reading, Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Harrison and Edna
Posey. He was a graduate of Reading High School, Albright College, and the Air War College at
Maxwell Air Force Base, AL.

He was the husband of Olga Wolosewich, Camp Hill, PA, with whom he just celebrated their
69th wedding anniversary in September. He was predeceased by a brother Harrison (Gertrude);
and sisters Carolyn Porter (Robert), Chicago, IL, and Helen, Reading, PA; and daughter Patricia,
Arlington, VA. He is survived by daughter Priscilla Circollo (Matthew), Mauricetown, NJ; son
Richard (Mary), Myersville, MD; and grandchildren: Sayre, Julianna, and Garrett Posey.
Gen. Posey was a veteran of World War II. He began his military career on April 28, 1941 at the
Army Air Corps Primary Flying School in Albany, GA. He received his pilot’s wings and was
commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Dec. 12, 1941. Following
several aviation assignments in the United States, he was reassigned as a Captain to the 94th
Bombardment Group. He flew 22 combat missions during World War II and was released from
active duty in January 1946.

The following year, Gen. Posey was selected to serve as squadron commander of the newly
authorized 148th Fighter Squadron at Spaatz Field in Reading. He led an aggressive recruiting
effort and, in less than two months, the squadron received federal recognition and began training
as a unit of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Gen. Posey was instrumental in developing
training and administrative policies as well as operational plans and safety programs that became
the cornerstone of air operations within the state.

Gen. Posey returned to active duty in 1951 to serve in the Korean conflict. In 1955, he became
the wing commander of the 112th Fighter Interceptor Wing and, in 1956, he was appointed
Deputy Adjutant General — Air. He held this position until he retired in 1978. Gen. Posey flew
over 7,800 hours in a wide variety of aircraft including: the B-17, B-24, B-25, B-29, C-46, C-47,
C-119, C-121, P-38, P-47, P-51, and T-33.

Upon retirement he was promoted to the honorary rank of Major General, Pennsylvania National
Guard Retired List. His many decorations and awards include: the Distinguished Flying Cross,
the Legion of Merit, the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Combat Readiness Medal, and
the American Campaign Medal.

He was a member of numerous organizations, including the Air Force Association, the National
Guard Associations of the United States and of Pennsylvania, Spokane Masonic Lodge, and the
National Sojourners Harrisburg Chapter.

A funeral service will be held at Neill Funeral Home in Camp Hill, PA on Wednesday,
October 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service
beginning at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the PA
National Guard Military Museum, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA 17003, or to the
Scholarship Fund at the 193rd Special Operations Wing Association, 81 Constellation Court,
Middletown, PA, 17057.

Domenick A. Fiore Jr., 90, of Wyomissing passed June 5, 2015

Domenick A. Fiore Jr., 90, of Wyomissing passed June 5, 2015, in Country Meadows, where he resided for 5 years.

His wife, Teresa M. (Martello), passed away on November 1, 2009. Domenick was born in Valley Forge on February 16, 1925, a son of the late Domenick A. Sr. and Anna (Valentino) Fiore.
He was a 1942 Reading High School Graduate and married Teresa Mary Martello on April 19, 1947, in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading, PA.
Domenick joined the Army on December 20, 1943. As a machine gunner, he landed at Normandy, France on D-Day + 6 and fought with the 9th Infantry Division through Belgium, The Reinland and The Ardennes. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the Defense of the Remagen Bridge. Domenick was discharged from the Army in December, 1945.
1946-49 he was an auto mechanic at A.W. Golden, Reading, PA. In November, 1952, Domenick joined Air National Guard and worked as an aircraft mechanic at Spaatz field in Reading. 1952-1985 he was an aircraft mechanic for PA National Guard as flight line supervisor and Chief Master Sergeant. In 1985, Domenick took full retirement.
He was Past Master in both ofTeutonia Lodge and Chandler Lodge 227 of the Masonic Order.

Domenick served the Theo C. Auman Funeral Home on a parttime basis as a dedicated funeral assistant for 15 years.
Surviving are his son, Domenick John Fiore and spouse, Linda Wear Fiore, of Orefield, PA; and grandsons, Michael D. Fiore and his spouse, Cailin Fiore, of Worcester, MA; and Christopher R. Fiore of Chicago, ILL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at 10 a.m. in St IgnatiusLoyla Church, 2810 St.Albans Dr., Sinking Spring.. Burial to follow inIndiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015, 6-8 p.m. in Theo C.Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. A German Masonic Service will be at 730 p.m.
