LTC James O. Beamesderfer Jr Dies

James O. Beamesderfer, Jr., 71, Elizabethtown, died Thursday June 24, 2010 at home.
He was born in Dayton, OH on February 5, 1939 a son of Amelia Millovich Beamesderfer, Elizabethtown, and the late Rev. James O. Beamesderfer. He was a retired Lt. Col. having served in the U. S. Air Force during Vietnam and later with the 193rd ANG as a Deputy Squadron Commander and Air Maintenance Officer. Private interment services will be held at the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap at a later date. The Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

  1. A long time ago, back when Robert Harris commanded this outfit, the officers would get together after drill for a couple cool ones in Bob Martin’s office before heading home. This was before the unit moved down the hill to its new digs, back before the unit had a club.

    That’s where I met Beemie. He was a crusty old guy with a gravelly voice. He loved to tell lawyer jokes, and since I was the JAG, most of his jokes were aimed in my direction.

    Over the next few years I got to like him. Beneath the gruff exterior he was a good guy.

    He retired, and I retired, and I lost track of him until I read this post about his death.

    Here’s to you, Beemie. I’m sure that you’re up there hoisting a few cool ones, and telling lawyer jokes.
