Seventy years ago today, the 347th Fighter Squadron—the predecessors of today's 193rd Special Operations Squadron, @[200923618834:274:193rd Special Operations Wing]—provided air cover over Alba, Italy, to help the French army secure the island for the Allies. After the successful invasion, the squadron operated in southern France before returning to Italy where they spent the remainder of the war.
