November 11th Swinging with the Troops event info

Reserve your tickets now for a very special evening of 1940s-style Big Band

music that’s happening on Veterans Day (Thursday, Nov. 11) to benefit American

military service personnel.

 “Swingin’ For The Troops” will be a trip back in time to the era when swing

was king. The event will be held at the historic Valencia Ballroom in downtown

York, and includes a cocktail buffet from 6-8 p.m. and dancing from 8-11 p.m.

to the big band sounds of Swing Fever.

 All proceeds from the event benefit Operation Homefront, BAE Systems’ official

U.S. Charity Challenge partner. Operation Homefront provides emergency andmorale assistance for U.S. troops, their families and wounded veterans.

 Tickets to “Swingin’ For The Troops” are $45 per person or $85 per couple.

Passing of 1LT Eric Kline

It is with regret that the 1-112IN (SBCT) announces the death of 1LT Eric

Kline.  1LT Kline deployed with the 56th Stryker Brigade to OIF in 2008-09.

 Friends and family will be received at the Waide-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422

Conneaut Lake Road (Route 322), Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 on 27 September 2010

from 1400-1600 and 1900-2100. 

 There will be a funeral mass held at Saint Brigid’s Church, 383 Arch Street,

Meadville, PA 16335 at 1000 on 28 September 2010.  Following the mass, 1LT

Kline will be interred at the Saint Brigid’s Cemetery, 11293 Williamson

Road,

Meadville, PA 16335.

Obituary for 2Lt (Ret) Robert McGuirk

Robert D. McGuirk, Sr., 67, of Lower Allen Twp., Camp Hill, died Saturday,

 September 25, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

 An Army Veteran of Vietnam and PA Air National Guard Veteran of Desert

 Shield/Desert Storm, he was a retired Police Officer from Mechanicsburg

 Naval Inventory Control Point. 

 He was born November 4, 1942 in Boston, MA to the late Russell Robert and

 Lydia Theresa Mitchell McGuirk.

 He is survived by his wife, Young G. McGuirk; two daughters, Teresa A.

 McGuirk and Christine Daron and her husband Steve, all of Biglerville; a

 son, Robert D. McGuirk, Jr. and his wife Dianna of Etters; several brothers

 and sisters, and eight grandchildren. 

 Viewing will be from 6-8pm Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New

 Cumberland.  Interment with military honors will be at 10am Thursday at

 Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. 

 In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be sent to Hospice of

 Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA  17110.

WHAT:  Invitation to Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Lancaster County. This

event is FREE Admission for the Veteran, Spouse and Dependent Children.

Other family members (parents, aunts, uncles, cousins) can come and pay the

admittance fee, $14.95 (Adult 12+), $12.95 (Child 3-11), 2 and under FREE.

Admission, includes the famous, mind-bending Amazing Maize Maze, and

“Farm”-tastic Fun 43 Farm Fun Activities.  There are 36 fun farm activities,

including wagon rides and pedal carts.
